01Our commitment
The music is for everyone, and so is the site. We want anyone to be able to read about Cy, play the mixes, browse the gallery and get in touch, whatever device, browser or assistive technology they use. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
02What we’ve built in
- Keyboard access. Every link, button, dialog and player control can be reached and used with a keyboard, with a clear focus outline. The gallery lightbox also takes the arrow keys.
- Screen readers. Pages use proper headings and landmarks, icon-only buttons have text labels, and form fields have labels with errors announced next to the field.
- Dialogs that behave. The contact, booking and vault dialogs keep focus inside while they’re open, close with Escape and return focus to where you were.
- Motion you control. If your device is set to reduce motion, animations and smooth scrolling are switched off. The background video on the home page is silent and has a pause button.
- Light and dark. The site follows your system’s light or dark setting, and you can switch it yourself from the menu. Accent colours are picked to keep text readable in both.
- Room to zoom. Layouts reflow down to phone width, so you can zoom to 400% without scrolling sideways.
03Known limitations
We know some parts aren’t where they should be yet:
- Some gallery photos and event flyers only have general descriptions, not details of who is pictured or what the flyer says. We’re adding fuller descriptions over time.
- Full mixes are hosted on Mixcloud, SoundCloud and YouTube. We can’t control how accessible those players are.
- Mixes are music without spoken content, so they don’t have transcripts. Track details are listed as text on the music page.
If any of these get in your way, and we’ll help another way.
04Compatibility
The site is designed for current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop and mobile, and for screen readers including NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver and TalkBack. It relies on HTML, CSS, WAI-ARIA and JavaScript. Pages still show their content if JavaScript doesn’t load, but the music player and forms need it.
05Feedback and help
If something on the site doesn’t work for you, or you need information in another format, and start your message with “Accessibility”. Tell us the page and what happened, and we’ll reply within five working days.
If you’re not happy with our response, the Equality Advisory and Support Service can give free advice.
06How we test
We check new features with the keyboard only, with a screen reader, at high zoom and with reduced motion switched on, and we review colour contrast in both themes. We’ll review this statement whenever the site changes significantly, and at least once a year.
